My friend Alex from Honolulu Hawaii sent me the following question. Will homemade carrot juice stain my teeth orange? Unfortunately raw homemade carrot juice can stain your teeth over time. The juice won't stain your teeth any more so than coffee or tea will, however it is strong enough to stain tooth enamel. If you are particularly worried about this, simply brush your teeth after drinking carrot juice, and this will greatly reduce any staining effect that the juice has. The element within carrot juice that stains is beta-carotene, the orange plant pigment that causes carrots to be orange. I will say however that you shouldn't worry about this happening too much, as grape juice or extremely dark coffee will stain your teeth much more than carrot juice ever could. Carrot juice actually contains tons of vitamin A and calcium, both of which help keep your teeth and bones strong. Cheers, and thanks for the question.
