Kristen from Cheyenne Wyoming sent our staff the following question. She asked what are the side effects of too much carrot juice? As some of you might already be aware, carrot juice contains more vitamin A than almost any other food or beverage source in the world. Although hard to achieve, you could actually overdose on carrot juice based vitamin A by drinking gallons or liters of it within a short period of time. A vitamin A overdose affects the liver, so the side effects of such a health condition would include abdominal pain, nausea, orange skin, dizziness, fatigue, foul breath, and irritability. As is the case with all foods and beverages, you will want to limit your intake of carrot juice to a moderate amount, such as no more than a liter a day. A vitamin A overdose is a very serious condition which can cause permanent damage to your liver. It can also cause liver failure which is fatal. So please do use common sense when drinking fresh made carrot juice.
