Noah from out in Tulsa Oklahoma sent our staff this hilarious question. Can guinea pigs drink carrot juice? I have owned a guinea pig before, and while I'm sure a small amount of carrot juice wouldn't harm them, I wouldn't however recommend feeding it to them. Carrot juice contains a huge amount of natural sugar which would not be healthy for a guinea pig to metabolize in such a dense juiced form. Guinea pigs have evolved a very specialized digestive system over many years, and one that is not accustomed to processing super sugar dense juices. I discussed this topic with a veterinarian and she concurred with my conclusion. So there you have it, carrot juice is not a great thing to feed to a guinea pig. They can definitely eat regular carrots which have much more fiber and must less dense sugar quantities. As far as what you should give your guinea pig to drink, stick with fresh room temperature water. We appreciate the question.
